World Cup and Soccer Betting Tips

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 30 - 2009

The 2010 World Cup is the 19th FIFA-organised tournament, scheduled for June 11th to July 11th 2010 in South Africa, the first time that the tournament has been hosted by a nation in the Confederation of African Football. Thirty-two teams will compete in the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals, with one place allocated for hosts South Africa. Of the remaining 31 places, 13 are allocated to Europe, 5 to Africa, 4 or 5 each to South America and Asia, 3 or 4 to CONCACAF (comprising North America, Central America and the Caribbean) and 0 or 1 to Oceania.

Odds and Predictions

Here are some useful soccer betting tips. The 18 competitions since the inaugural event have produced just 7 different winners. Brazil have been the most successful nation, lifting the Cup 5 times, Italy have won 4 times, Germany 3 times, Argentina and Uruguay twice apiece, with England and France each boasting a single victory. Additionally, only 9 different nations have been losing finalists, Germany 4 times, Argentina, Brazil, Czechoslovakia, Holland, Hungary and Italy twice each, while France and Sweden have been runners-up on one occasion. With the breakup of Czechoslovakia this leaves a shortlist of 10 sides that have contested a World Cup final. Much has been made of the fact that no European team has won a World Cup hosted outside Europe. However, in the 8 non-European hosted tournaments, European teams have made the last 6 six finals. Furthermore, the June-July tournament will be played in the South African winter, so temperatures will at least be bearable for European players. However, it should be noted that Spain (a best-priced 6/1 to win the 2010 World Cup), Portugal (40/1), Russia (33/1) and Croatia (66/1) have never contested a World Cup final. Euro 2008 champions Spain seem very short considering a best finish of 4th place in 1950, while the others seem likely to qualify only via the playoffs. England have impressed in their qualification campaign to date, but also look short at 9/1. Germany (12/1), Italy (12/1) and Holland (14/1) offer better value than Spain or England.

The main competition seems likely to come from South America which has provided 9 of 18 World Cup winners. 5-times winners Brazil look worthy favourites at 5/1, but Argentina, who have made just 2 quarter-finals in the last 4 tournaments look woefully underpriced at 11/2.

Elsewhere, it is difficult to enthuse about CONCACAF and Oceania, with only the USA (125/1) and Mexico (150/1) likely to make any impact at all. Africa provides 6 teams, Ivory Coast (40/1), Nigeria (80/1), Ghana (80/1), Cameroon (100/1), hosts South Africa (150/1) and Egypt (200/1). It is surely too big an ask to expect South Africa to become the 6th hosts to lift the World Cup, but, as South Korea proved in 2002, experience of conditions and vocal home support may lead to better performances than expected. The Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Egypt, winners of the last two African Cup of Nations, all merit respect.

Asian sides seem up against it, though Japan (300/1) and South Korea (500/1) have reached the knockout phase in recent tournaments and look set to qualify for the 2010 finals. Its useful to look for soccer betting tips online before placing any bets.

The seasoned European campaigners look the best value, with Germany, 3-times winners and 4-times runners-up, the recommended bet at 12/1.

Responsible Betting

Responsible gamblers decide in advance how much time and money to devote to gambling, and, most importantly, when to stop. Gambling responsibly with money set aside for entertainment will keep gambling a fun hobby. Making the most of free bet offers and bookmakers’ sign-up offers will make punting money go further.

UEFA Cup 30/4/2009: Dynamo Kiev vs Shakhtar Donetsk

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 30 - 2009

The big Ukrainian derby will occur in European stage this time where Ukrainians are awaiting to determine the winner of this tie for the UEFA Cup final. The rivalry between Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk is like Barcelona/Real Madrid, Galatasaray/Fenerbache, or Manchester United/Liverpool. Both teams have won every single Ukrainian Premier League title, except for the very first one in 1992. The two clubs have finished in the top two spots in all but four seasons, with Dynamo leading the way with 12 titles followed by Shakhtar’s 4. Shakhtar have had their way with Dynamo as of late, winning three out of the last four league titles, including last season.

Dynamo Kiev

Yuri Semin’s team are in a very relaxed season since they have already secured their domestic title, as they are now even 12 points ahead of their rivals Shakhtar and look set to claim the Ukrainian league title once again. Dynamo showed a lot of quality this season and they definitely stand huge chance of eliminating their biggest rivals.

Shakhtar Donetsk

Shakhtar, conquerors of Tottenham and CSKA Moscow, beat Marseille 4-1 on aggregate in the last eight. They have never won any European title, and this season represents one of their best opportunities to grab their first one.

Team News

Captain Taras Mikhalik will still miss the big clash against Shakhtar and defender Pape Diakhate will also out injured. Roman Eremenko and Artyom Kravets are still battling to be fit for tomorrow’s match.

For Shakhtar, they have no injury concerns at this stage, however, five players are a yellow card away from a ban which means all of them will not play in the 2nd leg next week should they receive another booking.

Prediction (will be sent to GoTipsters Subscribers ONLY, right before the match starts)

On the last 10 occasions between the two teams, Shakhtar win only once whereas the host have won 4 times. Dynamo have a very impressive home record in European Cups this season without any losses in UEFA Cup.

Champions League 28/4/2009: Barcelona vs Chelsea

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 28 - 2009

barcachelsea-logo.gif

Barcelona are hosting Chelsea in the first leg of the semi final Champions League and I am sure that football fans across the world will enjoy 90 minutes of top-class football at Camp Nou.

Chelsea played Barcelona in 2006/7 group stages, 2005/06 and 2004/05 first KO round. Chelsea went through with 5-4 aggregate (Barcelona won 2-1 in the 1st leg at home) in 2004/2005. But revenge was taken by Barcelona in the following year with a 3-2 aggregate, drawing in the 2nd leg 1-1 at Camp Nou. Barcelona managed to lift the Champions League trophy that year. Their latest encounter came in the 2006/2007 group stage where Chelsea did well again and drew 2-2 at Nou Camp.

Barcelona

Barcelona play so good this season that they are rightfully considered the best team on planet. Still, the history remembers titles and if they don’t win it, all of their success this season will be forgotten. Barcelona play the most attractive football and they have shown that on various occasions this season, but this is the first time they meet a serious defense, a team that can play for the score and that have individuals ready to use any mistake of the opposite defense.

Barcelona had to work hard for a point against dangerous Valencia this weekend. Only in the last minutes did Henry managed to level the score. Two points dropped in this match melted the gap over Real Madrid to only four points, so Guardiola’s squad will be giving more though to domestic championship in the future. The pressure is high and Messi, Xavi and the rest will have to show that they are ready to give their best in the hardest circumstances. Last year’s finals showed that Barca are vulnerable, that Messi can fail in the most important situations. However, this year Barcelona are in much better form but we don’t expect them to have an easy job against Londoners as they did against Lyon and Bayern.

Chelsea

The Blues are about to play the FA Cup finals, but that competition bears no significance for the fans nor for the owner of the club who invested millions hoping to win the Champions League title. IN the year of global economic crisis and when Roman himself is losing billions on the market, Chelsea might fall apart if they fail to win the Champions League, and the Russian might pack his bags and give up on the toy that is no table to give him trophies. The experiment with Scolari cost Abramovich the Premiership title, and this is the first time they are starting a match with Barca as minnows. Fe people expect Chelsea in the finals this year, but the team that have Drogba, Balak and Lampard on board should definitely not be underestimated so easily.

The experience might be Chelsea’s biggest advantage in the semifinals. They have slipped so many times on this step and last year it happened through penalties in Moscow. Still, the experience from the last seasons could be crucial in the duel against Barcelona. Barcelona play fast football and the question is how slow Chelsea defense will manage in such a play. If however, they move the action on Barca’s half, Chelsea’s physical shape might create problems for Barcelona’s defense that is not so tough as it seems. We shouldn’t forget that Hiddink has much more experience than Guardiola, who has done a great job leading the team this season but lacks experience in these kinds of matches.

Team News

Rafael Marquez is back from suspension but Sergio Busquets, Dani Alves and Carles Puyol will all miss the second leg if they pick up another booking. Martin Caceres and Gabriel Milito are both injured, but Lionel Messi should be able to play after recovering from a cramp last week.
In Chelsea, Ashley Cole is suspended. But fortunately, captain John Terry is back after serving out one-game ban. Ricardo Carvalho and Deco are still out injured while Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira are also sidelined undefinitely. Nicolas Anelka will miss the second leg if he gets another yellow card.

EPL 27/4/2009: Newcastle vs Portsmouth

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 27 - 2009

newcastleportsmouth-logo

Portsmouth will travel to Newcastle on Monday night, in what will be their 66th League clash. Newcastle will be looking for a repeat of the corresponding fixture in December when they came away from Fratton Park with a 3-0 victory.

Newcastle

Newcastle have won just twice since that game against Portsmouth, 1 of which was at home and have drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 6 Premier League games. Shearer is yet to secure a win since he took the Toon’s coach chair. Newcastle missed another chance to climb from the relegation zone, having lost at White Hart Lane last week. If they fail to beat Portsmouth tonight, they will certainly get relegated from Premier League.

Portsmouth

It seems that Portsmouth have done enough to ensure survival even though they had had plenty of problems along the way. With the home win against Bolton, The Pompey climbed back to safety with the home win against Bolton and they will definitely not be too downhearted by the defeat from Manchester United in midweek. They are now six points above the bottom three and just few more points would practically ensure their survival in Premier League.

Team News

For Newcastle, Michael Owen and Mark Viduka are all available whilst Obafemi Martins could probably sit on the bench. Steven Taylor, Joey Barton and Fabricio Coloccini remain unavailable. Jose Enrique and Peter Lovenkrands could return after recovering from injury.

Meanwhile for Portsmouth, they will wait until the last minute to determine the fitness of David Nugent and Younes Kaboul. Both have been suffering with thigh complaints. Midfielder Niko Kranjcar will be unavailable because of injury while Nugent and Kaboul are still in doubt. Jermain Pennant is likely to replace Nugent in the starting line-up.
