With the home win against Bolton, The Pompey climbed back to safety with the home win against Bolton and they will definitely not be too downhearted by the defeat from Manchester United in midweek. They are now six points above the bottom three and just few more points would practically ensure their survival in Premier League.

For Newcastle, Michael Owen and Mark Viduka are all available whilst Obafemi Martins could probably sit on the bench. Steven Taylor, Joey Barton and Fabricio Coloccini remain unavailable. Jose Enrique and Peter Lovenkrands could return after recovering from injury.
Meanwhile for Portsmouth, they will wait until the last minute to determine the fitness of David Nugent and Younes Kaboul. Both have been suffering with thigh complaints. Midfielder Niko Kranjcar will be unavailable because of injury while Nugent and Kaboul are still in doubt. Jermain Pennant is likely to replace Nugent in the starting line-up.
