Italian Serie A 26/4/2009: Sampdoria vs Cagliari

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 26 - 2009

Cagliari are still in with a chance of qualifying for European football next season as they face a relaxed Sampdoria side at Marassi.

Sampdoria

Sampdoria have recovered to play their best football of the campaign in the last few months. A disastrous first half of the season had seen the team sit precariously close to the relegation zone, but the Blucerchiati have bounced back and have lost only two out of their last twelve Serie A matches.

Samp were riding a four-match unbeaten streak with victories over Torino and Lecce in that span. However, the streak was broken by Catania last weekend as Samp failed to find the back of the net for the first time in four matches. (Source: Goal.com)

Cagliari

Cagliari are in eighth position, four points behind AS Roma. This round will be fundamental for them with 6 matches remaining, to keep their European chance alive.

Cagliari have had an absolute dream season so far and have been the Cinderella story of Serie A. After losing their first five matches of the campaign, the Sardinian outfit have made a fairytale climb up the league ladder.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men currently sit in eighth place and are in the thick of things in the race to clinch a Europa League spot. It would be a stunning achievement for the islanders, and influential goalkeeper Federico Marchetti thinks they should give it their best shot. (Source: Goal.com)

La Liga 23/4/2009: Villarreal vs Recreativo Huelva

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 23 - 2009

villarreal-logo.gifhuelva

Villarreal

Villarreal are now at the mid-table and worrying they will be missing out on the UEFA Cup slot as they are behind Atletico Madrid. The 2 teams are tied at 49 points but Atletico have better goal differences.

Villarreal had to lose their winning streak at Madrigal when they were beaten 0-2 by Malaga. But that time their focus was still in Champions League return tie at the Emirates in 3 days time!

Huelva

Huelva have failed to win since the beginning of March and slipped down the table facing relegation, three points behind Sporting Gijon who are in the last safe spot.

Andalusians surprised Villarreal at Madrigal and they put up a lot of effort in Huelva this autumn. The last three defeats against Sevilla, Barcelona and Real showed that they are in good form but they failed due to the lack of quality players.

Form Guide

Villarreal
Apr 19 Valladolid 0-0 Villarreal (La Liga)
Apr 15 Arsenal 3-0 Villarreal (Champions League)
Apr 11 Villarreal 0-2 Malaga (La Liga)
Apr 7 Villarreal 1-1 Arsenal (Champions League)
Apr 4 Almeria 3-0 Villarreal (La Liga)

Recreativo Huelva
Apr 18 Recreativo Huelva 0-1 Real Madrid (La Liga)
Apr 11 Barcelona 2-0 Recreativo Huelva (La Liga)
Apr 4 Recreativo Huelva 0-1 Sevilla (La Liga)
Mar 22 Getafe 2-1 Recreativo Huelva (La Liga)
Mar 14 Valencia 1-1 Recreativo Huelva (La Liga)

Team News

Santi Cazorla, Marcos Senna and Guille Franco are still injured and will definitely not playing. Fabricio Fuentes has been left out by Manuel Pellegrini and it is likely to be a similar side to that which drew against Valladolid.

In Huelva, Ersen Martin will not play due to injury and will be replaced by Cesar Arzo. Javi Guerrero and Beto are also injured whilst Quique Alvarez, Nayar and Poli have been left out.

EPL 22/4/2009: Chelsea vs Everton

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 22 - 2009

chelsea-logo.gifeverton-logo

Chelsea have not lost their last 13 home Premier League games against Everton. They have won seven and drawn six November 1994. On the other hand, statistics say that they have not prevailed in 21 league and cup matches against Chelsea since November 2000.

Chelsea

A win for Chelsea will see them move within a point of Liverpool and Man Utd at least for another 24 hours. Chelsea still have hopes of stealing the Premier League title away from either Manchester United or Liverpool by simply grab another three points in today’s EPL match against the Toffees. Trailed by Manchester United by four points in Premier League, a Champions League and FA Cup double has probably now become more realistic goal for Chelsea.

Everton

A victory for the Toffees would see them replacing Aston Villa in fifth place. Everton are on a big confident after trashing Manchester United in 120 minutes FA Cup semi final at Wembley on Sunday.

Serie A 19/4/2009: AS Roma vs Lecce

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 19 - 2009

as-roma-logo-thumb.jpglecce-logo

AS Roma

Roma need to win this match to make sure they hold on 6th place that will guarantee them next season’s UEFA Cup qualification spot. This is mainly because their Champions League hopes looks to be out of their reach after last week defeat against Lazio. They are currently eight points adrift of the fourth-placed Genoa with just seven rounds of football remaining. Fiorentina are also in the race at fifth position, thus they don’t have much to hope for.

Lecce

They are winless for quite a while now and the change of coach brought no improvement. The Salentini have failed in their past nine matches, currently sit in a precarious 19th position, with just 24 points recorded from the 31 rounds of football.

Form Guide

Roma
April 11 v Lazio (A) LOST 2-4
April 5 v Bologna (H) WON 2-1
March 22 v Juventus (H) LOST 1-4
March 15 v Sampdoria (A) DREW 2-2
March 8 v Arsenal (H) WON 1-0 (Champions League)
