The last time Everton defeated Chelsea was back in November 2000 – a 2-1 triumph at Goodison Park with captain John Terry the sole Chelsea survivor from that match. The recent battles have been very tight with the two encounters in the 08/09 Premier League campaign finishing in 0-0 draws. Last season there was a 1-1 draw in London and a 1-0 Chelsea win at Goodison Park. The Londoners also knocked Everton out of the semi-finals of the League Cup. In fact, David Moyes’ team has only beaten Chelsea twice in their last 34 encounters. This will be the eighth time they have met in the FA Cup with Chelsea winning five times, drawing once and losing twice. The most recent meeting was in the fourth round of the 05/06 competition with Chelsea winning the replay 4-1 at the Bridge.

Chelsea

This match marks Guus Hiddink’s last game in charge at Chelsea and he has suffered just one fall in 21 competitive fixtures losing 1-0 away at Tottenham on March 21. The last eight rounds of the EPL were particularly impressive with seven wins and one draw, scoring 19 goals and conceding two. Chelsea finished the EPL campaign with a 3-2 victory at Sunderland with Nicolas Anelka amongst the scorers to finish with 25 goals in 53 appearances. Anelka has scored four goals during the current FA Cup run. Frank Lampard (56 appearances/19 goals in all competitions) and Didier Drogba (41/13 all competitions) have also made telling contributions. Everton has been one of the most consistent teams in England and finished fifth in the EPL with 63 points – 20 behind third-placed Chelsea. Everton defeated Fulham 2-0 in round 38 at Craven Cottage with Leon Osman (42/7 all competitions) scoring twice. Everton has lost just three times in their last 28 competitive fixtures and have sat in either fifth or sixth spot since Boxing Day. Frank Lampard, who suffered a hamstring twinge recently, should be able to play. Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira continue their spell in rehabilitation.

While in Everton, Phil Jagielka, Mikel Arteta, Victor Anichebe and Yakubu Aiyegbeni are all still recovering from long-term injuries.

Prediction

Chelsea and Everton are the teams with rock-solid defences and both teams will hope that their back line will be able to keep a clean sheet in this match and thus make the job a lot easier for the attackers.

Manchester United managed to secure the place in the Champions League semifinal, and now Everton await them in the FA Cup semi-final clash. The Toffees are in excellent form lately and they are certainly not without chances in this match.

Manchester United are unbeaten in eight matches against Everton, winning six and drawing two since the Toffees prevailed 1-0 at Goodison Park on April 2005.

Gary Neville and Rafael da Silva have been passed fit for United, Paul Scholes, Park Ji-sung and Carlos Tevez are most likely to play from the start. Ferdinand and Berbatov should also perform. However, Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick are still in doubt.

Arsenal and Chelsea are having this week reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, London-based Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea turn their attentions to a different semi-final, this time in the FA Cup.

Today FA Cup semi final would be absolutely exciting as both top EPL teams meet each other. Arsenal would be full of confidence after advancing to Champions League semi final last week when they face Chelsea whom also advanced to the next knock out stage Champions League after a hard fought 4-4 draw against Liverpool.

This is the 13th time they’ve met in the competition; Arsenal won eight and Chelsea four. The Gunners are looking to knock the Blues out for the seventh time in a row.

There will be only one match in the FA Cup, which is replay match between Arsenal and Hull City in Emirates Stadium. Our records in FA Cup is 100% WIN so far, with 2 out of 2 picks got it right. The first pick I posted was Fulham vs Man Utd on 7 March and followed by Arsenal vs Burnley the day after.

Tonight’s FA Cup match analysis is below:

Arsenal
Supporters of “The Gunners” are impatient to see their idol win this battle with great margin, to continue with their excellent form for the last 4 matches. the strength of the team favored to continue their rivalry in the last four. Self Kolo Toure et al are currently printing to a head after the ten-goal duel in the duel. The confidence from that resilient showing fuelled their impressive 4-0 demolition of Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, so the Gunners go into their clash against Hull – with a mouth-watering Wembley semi-final against Chelsea the prize at stake – in good shape.

Hull City
Hull, 13th in the Premier League, only four points above the drop-zone, have failed to win seven of their last nine matches, including the loss 1-3 from Arsenal at the KC stadium. However, The Tigers, with two wins from their last four, are also unbeaten in their last three away games in league and cup, since a 2-0 Premier League defeat at West Ham on January 28.

Team News
Andrey Arshavin pronounced himself ‘desperate’ to be fit for the Hull game, but is likely to be unable to feature because of the gash. Lukasz Fabianski replaces Manuel Almunia. Kieran Gibbs will replace Gael Clichy, who is rested. Eduardo (groin) is still out and Aaron Ramsey will not be involved, while Cesc Fabregas, Emmanuel Adebayor and Tomas Rosicky remain sidelined through injury.

In Hull side, Kevin Kilbane is cup-tied, while Andy Dawson is set to return. Dean Marney completes a three-match ban, but Jimmy Bullard and George Boateng are on the long-term casualty list.

Prediction
Arsene Wenger may opt to rest some key players. Robin Van Persie, William Gallas, Emmanuel Eboue, Abou Diaby and Carlos Vela should all start in my opinion after they were all on the bench at the weekend. With some fresher regular squad, I expect Arsenal will clear the handicap easily.

My prediction: ARSENAL -1.5

Arsenal
Arsenal ended their Premiership goal drought last time out when they beat West Brom 3-1, and in all honesty, should have won by more. Nicklas Bendtner, for once, stepped up to the plate and Andrei Arshavin put in another mesmerizing performance. Arsenal now welcome the visit of Burnley in this FA Cup 5th Round tie knowing the FA Cup is their most realistic chance of silverware this season. Arsenal have won 7 of their last 11 home matches in all competitions, drawing the other 4, with no losses. In the FA Cup 4th Round, Arsenal walloped Cardiff City by 4 goals, and if Arsenal are in the mood again today, Burnley should prove no contest. Burnley come into this one wearing the tag that reads “good in cup competitions”. Burnley’s run to the Carling Cup semi-final was breathtaking, and they almost secured a final place until the very last moment. In the League Championship, they are just 1 place shy of a playoff place, but with a game in hand. They will feel they are in with a fighting chance against the Gunners, especially with no away losses on their last 3 travels. Taking this tie into a second match might just be within reach for them, if they are able to hold out the Gunners.

Player Injuries
It is late in the season, and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger finally has something to smile about. Theo Walcott is set to return following a shoulder injury which kept him out for 4 months. He could make the bench and be set for a late cameo appearance. Eduardo and William Gallas could be included as well, so Wenger only has Kolo Toure, Mikael Silvestre, Tomas Rosicky, Francesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor out now. Even though a lot of people expect Andrei Arshavin to play, I think he could see bench time in this one as Wenger goes easy on his new recruit. That means Nicklas Bendtner could get a reward for his 2 goals scored last time out and partner Robin Van Persie in attack. For Burnley boss Owen Coyle, he has to do without Middlesbrough loanee, full-back Rhys Williams, as he is cuptied having played for Middlesbrough in the FA Cup already this season. Michael Duff is to serve a suspension. Coyle will welcome back Brian Jensen, Kevin McDonald and Martin Paterson for this game though. Paterson has been Burnley’s top scorer this season, followed closely but Steven Thompson, and I feel if they are able to just sneak Burnley one goal, then they might make a palatable punt on the handicap. However, I feel chances of that happening are slim at best.

Prediction
Arsenal will be pumped to progress, and having Robin Van Persie fresh and fit for this one having been rested in the match against West Brom is a real bonus. The Gunners have now kept 9 cleansheets in their last 11 games at the Emirates in all competitions – the only two teams managing to score against Arsenal during this period were Liverpool and Plymouth Argyle. They have kept a cleansheet in each of their last 6 home games, and come into this match set to make that 7 in a row. Arsenal’s last 3 home games in the FA Cup have all resulted in 2-or-more-goals wins, and I am convinced they will be making it 4 in a row. It has now been 13 years since Arsenal last lost to a lower league opposition in the FA Cup – in 1996, they went down 0-1 against Sheffield United at Brammall Lane in a 3rd Round reply. All of these facts only point to another fact-to-be, and that is that Arsenal will secure progression into the next round with relative ease, especially at home. Burnley are no doubt the giantkillers in England this season, be it in the Carling Cup or the FA Cup, but such a run must come to an end sooner or later, and up against an Arsenal side boosted by the return of several first-team regulars, I think the best Burnley could hope for is a respectable loss.

My Prediction: Arsenal -1.25

Fulham
Fulham played poorly last time out against Hull, and they conceded a last-gasp goal from Manchester United loanee Manucho to lose that game 0-1, only their second League loss at home all season. They will be depleted in morale as they come into this one against league leader Manchester United.

Player Injuries
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson remains without right-back Chris Baird, who has a leg injury picked up in that game against Arsenal at the Emirates. Diomansy Kamara seems to have improved his overall match fitness, but he should still only see time on the bench as Hodgson is expected to stick with his favoured duo of Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora. Simon Davies, Clinton Dempsey, Dickson Etuhu and Danny Murphy are the usual names in midfield, while all of Hodgson’s first-choice defenders are fit as well. For Manchester United, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has no fresh injury worries. He only has Gary Neville doubtful and West Brown, Owen Hargreaves and Rafael out. With the final run-in in sight, United should have a few changes made to the starting 11. Edwin van der Sar should make way for impressive back-up Ben Foster. Nemanja Vidic, Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov could all be rested as Jonny Evans, Nani, Anderson and Carlos Tevez get starts. Wayne Rooney could be utilised as he continues to build his match fitness. One thing about United is that they can afford to rest big-name players and still have quality replacements to do an equally good job.

Manchester United
Manchester United have won their last 3 visits to Craven Cottage. Not only that, United have won their last 8 matches against Fulham, home and away, scoring 23 goals in the process – that’s almost 3 goals scored on average per game. Since their unexpected loss to Derby in the Carling Cup 1st Leg, United have gone undefeated since, picking up 13 wins and 1 draw – that draw coming against Italian champions Inter Milan at the San Siro. United have lost just 1 game in 29 matches, and they must be one of the most in-form teams in the world at present time. Carlos Tevez will be desperate to prove his quality to potential suitors as he looks set to leave the club over the coming summer, while Nani must be eager to show he is as capable of Cristiano Ronaldo or risks being offloaded along with Tevez. Fulham, as much as they have been good over the course of this season, they have not really impressed me too much. They still play boring football, and their midfield is devoid of creativity and flair. I think they will struggle badly against a United side very high on morale and even higher on momentum.

My prediction: Manchester United -1/2
