Spanish La Liga 23/5/2009: Sevilla vs Deportivo La Coruna

Sevilla

When a team prepare for celebrations before the game is played, they usually have to postpone the party because they fail to record a desired result. Number of teams saw that happening to them and Sevilla fans are preparing the celebrations due to the team’s return to Champions League. The team that have been near the top of Spanish football for years and the same one who won several trophies in the last few years should not be celebrating a Champions League place as that is something that should be expected of them. Considering that they were eliminated from UEFA Cup and Copa del Rey early on, the third place in Primera should not be considered a big success. However, the people in Andalucia are just looking for the reason to have a fiesta, thus the aforementioned party. Sevilla will play very difficult opponents, who usually play very well on the travels. Deportivo will be very motivated in this match and they will try to take advantage of Sevilla’s inconsistency. Sevilla largely struggled last weekend in Pamplona and they were lucky to escape with a draw. The individual quality of the players only helps from time to time and they are likely to have big problems in this match, especially as the visitors are very organized and work well as a team. Deportivo La Coruna

This is the game of the season for Depor. Their UEFA Cup ambitions depend solely on this match. The good run of results gives them reason to hope for a good result in Seville. Depor have been very good on the travels this season, taking 22 points from 18 away games, which is a solid result. Sevilla, on the other hand, lost 6 home games this season and that is why Deportivo is not without chances in this match. The team from La Coruna missed a great chance to beat Getafe at home as they conceded an equalizer late into the game. Miguel Angel Lotina believes that his players will continue the good run on the travels, having taken seven points from last three away games. Lotina will probably name an unchanged line-up to that which played Getafe. Joan Verdu, Juan Rodriguez and Guardado are in very good form, whereas defence are playing really well lately and that should be the key to the good result in Seville.

La Liga 23/4/2009: Villarreal vs Recreativo Huelva

Villarreal

Villarreal are now at the mid-table and worrying they will be missing out on the UEFA Cup slot as they are behind Atletico Madrid. The 2 teams are tied at 49 points but Atletico have better goal differences.

Villarreal had to lose their winning streak at Madrigal when they were beaten 0-2 by Malaga. But that time their focus was still in Champions League return tie at the Emirates in 3 days time!

Huelva

Huelva have failed to win since the beginning of March and slipped down the table facing relegation, three points behind Sporting Gijon who are in the last safe spot.

Andalusians surprised Villarreal at Madrigal and they put up a lot of effort in Huelva this autumn. The last three defeats against Sevilla, Barcelona and Real showed that they are in good form but they failed due to the lack of quality players.

Form Guide

Villarreal
Apr 19 Valladolid 0-0 Villarreal (La Liga)
Apr 15 Arsenal 3-0 Villarreal (Champions League)
Apr 11 Villarreal 0-2 Malaga (La Liga)
Apr 7 Villarreal 1-1 Arsenal (Champions League)
Apr 4 Almeria 3-0 Villarreal (La Liga)

Recreativo Huelva
Apr 18 Recreativo Huelva 0-1 Real Madrid (La Liga)
Apr 11 Barcelona 2-0 Recreativo Huelva (La Liga)
Apr 4 Recreativo Huelva 0-1 Sevilla (La Liga)
Mar 22 Getafe 2-1 Recreativo Huelva (La Liga)
Mar 14 Valencia 1-1 Recreativo Huelva (La Liga)

Team News

Santi Cazorla, Marcos Senna and Guille Franco are still injured and will definitely not playing. Fabricio Fuentes has been left out by Manuel Pellegrini and it is likely to be a similar side to that which drew against Valladolid.

In Huelva, Ersen Martin will not play due to injury and will be replaced by Cesar Arzo. Javi Guerrero and Beto are also injured whilst Quique Alvarez, Nayar and Poli have been left out.

La Liga 12/4/2009: Real Madrid vs Real Valladolid

Posted by Go Tipsters Admin On April - 12 - 2009

real_madrid_logovalladolid

Real Madrid

Real need to beat Valladolid to keep their La Liga title chances alive, remembering that Barcelona will likely to beat Huelva at Camp Nou. Note that Valladolid have beaten Madrid early this season that later saw coach Schuster get sacked.

Real Valladolid

(Source: Goal.Com)

Just as it was last season, Valladolid have again been extremely inconsistent this campaign in terms of results, but amazingly, they have pretty much set up camp at mid-table since November.

A series of impressive wins would always be accompanied by a succession of defeats, but in the last four and a half months, they have not hovered any higher than eighth or dipped any lower than 12th in the standings. They are nine points clear of the drop zone and eventhough they look unlikely to challenge for European places, they have still managed to improve significantly from last term, when they only just escaped demotion by three points.

Coach, Jose Luis Mendilibar, will be pleased with the way this season has unfolded and if they can stay the course, they should easily finish inside the top ten. After next weekend’s clash against Villarreal, Los Blanquivioletas will have a very straightforward jog down the home stretch. They will have only one more opponent currently above them in the standings (Deportivo La Coruna) while the rest are in the bottom half of the ladder. However, that doesn’t mean that the players can start planning their summer holidays as the survival strugglers could prove to be extra dangerous.

Real Madrid
Apr 04 Malaga 0-1 Real Madrid (LA LIGA)
Mar 22 Real Madrid 3-0 Almeria (LA LIGA)
Mar 14 Athletic Bilbao 2-5 Real Madrid (LA LIGA)

Mar 07 Real Madrid 1-1 Atletico Madrid (LA LIGA)

Real Valladolid
Apr 04 Real Valladolid 1-0 Barcelona (LA LIGA)

Mar 15 Real Valladolid 1-0 Getafe (LA LIGA)
Mar 08 Recreativo Huelva 2-3 Real Valladolid (LA LIGA)
Mar 01 Valencia 1-2 Real Valladolid (LA LIGA)

Team News

Gabriel Heinze is back but right-back Sergio Ramos will have to serve a one-match ban. Lassana Diarra and Fabio Cannavaro will return, Arjen Robben and Pepe resumed regular training on Friday.

In Valladolid, their captain Marcos was not train recently to recover from injury. Jose Garcia Calvo and Sesma will have to run a late fitness test before heading to tomorrow’s clash. However, Luis Prieto and Alvaro Rubio both should be available.

Prediction

Real Madrid are hot favourites in this match and they are very motivated to take all three points.

Spanish La Liga 5/4/2009: Valencia vs Getafe

Posted by yaditya On April - 5 - 2009

valenciagetafe

Valencia
Valencia picked up just three points from their last six matches. But two weeks ago, they scraped past Racing Santander 1-0 away and that made them sixth in the standings, level on points with Atletico in fifth, and only five points short of the Champions League qualification places with 10 games left to play.

Getafe
Getafe ended a poor run with a 2-1 win at home to Recreativo Huelva. That victory ended seven matches without a victory. They are now only two points above the relegation zone and the future about Victor Munoz is still uncertain.

Form Guide

Valencia
Mar 22 Racing Santander 0-1 Valencia (La Liga)
Mar 14 Valencia 1-1 Recreativo Huelva (La Liga)
Mar 8 Numancia 2-1 Valencia (La Liga)
Mar 1 Valencia 1-2 Valladolid (La Liga)
Feb 26 Valencia 2-2 Dynamo Kiev (UEFA Cup)

Getafe
Mar 22 Getafe 2-1 Recreativo Huelva (La Liga)
Mar 15 Valladolid 1-0 Getafe (La Liga)
Mar 8 Getafe 1-2 Malaga (La Liga)
Mar 1 Almeria 2-1 Getafe (La Liga)
Feb 22 Getafe 1-1 Athletic Bilbao (La Liga)

Team News
Unai Emery will miss tonight’s game. That means only Raul Albiol becomes the only central defender. Both Alexis and Carlos Marchena are out of the game. However, Miguel and Joaquin have should be able to play.

Javier Casquero could miss out. Juan Albin, Joffre Guerron and Cata Diaz all arrived back late from international duty, but should be available.

Prediction
I am hoping that Valencia could get their second consecutive victory after showing an impressive fighting spirit against Racing before the international match break.

My prediction: VALENCIA -1/2 @ BETUS Sportsbook
